Republicans grab Kane County spots

Contested Kane County races for County Board chairman, coroner, circuit clerk and recorder went to Republicans.

According to unofficial vote totals with 267 of 291 precincts reporting, state Sen. Chris Lauzen will take over as the county’s chief executive, winning by a count of 90,190 votes to Democrat Sue Klinkhamer’s 67,671.

Lauzen had run on three main ideas: freezing the county’s property tax levy, heading an honest and competent administration, and treating people with respect. He took about 57 percent of the vote against Klinkhamer, a former mayor of St. Charles.
