Tillman could miss game

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Bears cornerback Charles Tillman has more on his mind than the Houston Texans.

Tillman's wife is due to give birth soon, and the Bears' Pro Bowl cornerback told WSCR-AM 670 on Tuesday night that he would not play if his wife went into labor right before the game.

“The wife is due any day, so hopefully this baby can stay in until after the game on Sunday,” Tillman told the station. “I hope she stays in – I’m having another girl – Monday, for sure, but if she comes Sunday, I think I’m going to have to be at the hospital Sunday. So, I hope she stays in until after Sunday.”

If Tillman does have to miss the game, his teammates said they would understand.

Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall said Lovie Smith set the tone for a family-first group.

"You take on the character of your leader," Marshall said. "That's what he preaches: Family comes first."
