Authorities asking for help in fatal hit and run

CHICAGO — Cook County Sheriff's Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run in unincorporated Maine Township.

In a statement Wednesday, Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart said the car is believed to be a black Dodge Challenger.

He said the vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian sometime between Sunday night and Monday afternoon. The accident occurred on eastbound Touhy Avenue between Interstate 294 and Talcott Avenue near the suburb of Park Ridge.

Authorities suspect the passenger side of the vehicle sustained body damage.

Dart asked that anyone with information on the incident call the sheriff's investigations section at 708-865-4896, or the communications center at 847-635-1188.
