One’s blood cholesterol level has a lot to do with the chances of getting heart disease.

In fact, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes are major risk factors for heart disease. Certain lifestyles, such as being a smoker, being overweight and not exercising also can put people at higher risk for heart disease.

For information about cardiovascular disease and its risk factor, visit the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at http://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/what_you_can_do.htm.
