Cardiovascular tests 
offered in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE – The McHenry County Health Department will offer a cholesterol screening from 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 17 at its Crystal Lake office, 100 N. Virginia St.

The screening requires a 12-hour fast and includes total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, triglycerides, blood pressure and cardiovascular education.

The cost is $35.

One’s blood cholesterol level has a lot to do with the chances of getting heart disease.

In fact, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes are major risk factors for heart disease. Certain lifestyles, such as being a smoker, being overweight and not exercising also can put people at higher risk for heart disease.
