Crystal Lake council minus one – Schofield elected to County Board
CRYSTAL LAKE – There is a vacancy on the Crystal Lake City Council after first-term council member Carolyn Schofield was elected Tuesday to the McHenry County Board, but it’s unknown whether her spot will be filled before her term expires in May.
“In theory, we have to appoint a replacement to serve until next May,” Mayor Aaron Shepley said. “It’s a short-term appointment, and we’re still undecided if we should appoint somebody for that short of a time, or if we’ll fly the missing man formation for [a few]
months.
“I can see arguments on both sides. I don’t know what’s best.”
