Hope in Christ

To the Editor:

In light of the outcome of this past Tuesday night, there were four things that did not change for me. These four are great reminders for those of us who are Christians and know that our hope is in Christ, not in a man or a political party.

1. “For I am the Lord, I change not ...” Malachi 3:6; “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31; “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8.

2. His word. We can stand on the promises of the Bible. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful (living and active), and sharper than any two-edged sword.” Hebrews 4:12.

3. Our citizenship is not here but in Heaven. “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.” Peter 1:4; “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” Peter 1:5; “Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations.” Peter 1:6.

4. Our calling is not to change the world through politics but ...

A. To be salt and light. “Ye are the salt of the earth.” Matthew 5:13; “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.

B. To keep trusting Go. “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is” Jeremiah 17:7.

Truly, the best is yet to come.
