HUNTLEY – District 158 and its support staff agreed to a three-year contract extension this week that includes regular salary increases and a performance bonus.
The district’s cooks, bus drivers, secretaries, janitors and teachers aides will receive an annual hourly raise based on the Consumer Price Index, with a floor of 2 percent and a cap of 5 percent, for the next three years in the contract that expires in June 2016.
The two sides also negotiated a one-time performance bonus of 0.5 percent of the union’s total payroll if the district meets its performance metrics in its strategic plan. The bonus averages $100 to $150 per support staffer.
The district’s support staff union approached the district about extending the current three-year contract, which was set to expire June 30, said Yvonne Tovar, president of the Huntley Educational Support Personnel Association.
The 400-plus union members wanted to avoid renegotiating a contract and were happy with a salary increase based on the cost-of-living, Tovar said.
The union ratified the agreement Monday. The district board unanimously endorsed it Thursday.
