Fire leaves McHenry house uninhabitable

McHENRY – A fire at 3909 W. Maple Ave. left a house uninhabitable Sunday morning.

Firefighters arrived about 4:40 a.m. to find the back of the home fully engulfed in flames.

The fire involved the rear deck and siding of the home and extended into the interior of the house through the eaves, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District said in a news release.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, the fire department said. Residents were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

The house sustained about $75,000 in damage, the fire department estimated.

The cause of the fire was undetermined Sunday night and is under investigation by the fire department and the McHenry Police Department.
