Veterans Day events planned statewide

CHICAGO (AP) — Veterans Day observations are being held statewide including a traveling art exhibit that highlights hand-sketched portraits of fallen service members.

The holiday will be observed Monday. Many schools will be closed including in Chicago. It's also a U.S. Postal Service holiday and most government buildings will be closed.

On Sunday, Gov. Pat Quinn is expected to present an art exhibit called "Portrait of a Soldier." It features pictures of soldiers who have been killed since Sept. 11, 2001. It's a traveling exhibit and is currently on display at Chicago's Navy Pier.
