Abbate civil-trial jury to resume deliberations

CHICAGO — Jurors deciding if a code of silence played a role in the beating of a bartender by an off-duty Chicago police officer are expected to resume deliberations on a verdict.

Tuesday will be the second day of deliberations in the civil trial stemming from the 2007 beating of a female bartender by off-duty officer Anthony Abbate. The beating was captured on video and later went viral.

Jurors started deliberations last Wednesday after closing arguments but haven't met since.
