Housewalk thanks

To the Editor:

On behalf of Housewalk chairmen Lynda Mauro and Claire Connolly, and our members, the Service League of Crystal Lake thanks our participating homeowners, sponsors and the community for their support of our successful 2012 Housewalk held Oct. 12. We are profoundly grateful to everyone for helping us raise more than $24,000 this year.

SL would not be able to host this event were it not for the tremendous generosity of our homeowners who opened their doors to us: Beth and Peter Olson, Charlotte and David Shade, Cindy and Ed Dvorak, and Linda and Phil Wencek.

Thank you to local businesses that supported us with cash and in-kind donations, and by selling tickets to our event. Particularly of note are our Presidential sponsors Crystal Lake Pediatric Dental, Dalzell Jewelers, Home State Bank, and the Shade Family Foundation. Also thanks to our Ambassador sponsors Distinction Salon & Spa, Dr. Gregory Kubik, and Zakowski, Rogers, Flood and McArdle. Thanks also to McHenry County Living, a yearlong supporter of our events. We received the support of many other businesses as well (sadly, too many to name here but listed on our ticket) who deserve our support in return.

The Service League, founded in 1925, is dedicated to providing immediate aid to Crystal Lake residents, $30,000 this past year alone. Since 1974, we have provided almost $500,000 in scholarships to local students. The continuation of this effort depends on the support we receive from our community, and once again you did just that. Thank you!

Ruth Scifo

President, Service League of Crystal Lake
