Missed opportunity

To the Editor:

Shame on the Northwest Herald. You were extended a personal invitation to the Veterans Day program at Alden-Hebron Elementary School, which was held on Nov. 8. Not only did you not attend, you didn’t even have the courtesy to RSVP.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff and students for once again making this annual event such a moving tribute to all of those who have served our country.

Your loss, Northwest Herald. You had the opportunity to share with your readers the sincere and heartfelt effort that Hebron puts forth for local veterans.

From the graveyard in front of the school honoring those who have passed, to the six display cases full of military memorabilia (including discharge papers from the Civil War), to the breakfast for our veterans and the presentation by the children, you lost an opportunity to extend our thanks to all veterans countywide.

Perhaps someday you can make the drive to Hebron to cover this annual event. In case you continue to ignore this patriotic town, we will continue to salute our veterans every chance we get, with or without you.
