Rock Island man convicted in death of infant son
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — A 20-year-old Rock Island man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his 4-month-old son.
Authorities say Lyrik Phillips died in December 2010 after suffering multiple skull fractures and bleeding in his brain.
A jury deliberated for about five hours Tuesday before convicting Demetrius Phillips. He faces between 20 and 60 years in prison when he's sentenced on Jan. 11.
