Cholesterol screening is planned in Johnsburg

JOHNSBURG – The McHenry County Department of Health will offer a cholesterol screening from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at Senior Services Associates, 3519 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg.

The screening requires a 12-hour fast and includes total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, triglycerides, blood pressure and cardiovascular education.

The cost is $35. For an appointment, call Cindy Stoffel at 815-344-3555.

Blood cholesterol level has a lot to do with the chances of getting heart disease. High cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes are major risk factors for heart disease. Certain lifestyles, such as being a smoker, being overweight and lack of exercise also can put people at a higher risk for heart disease. Addressing these risk factors can lower the incidence of heart disease.
