Lt. Gov. Simon urges end to texting while driving

PALATINE, Ill. — Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon has joined the campaign against texting and driving.

Simon on Thursday visited Harper College in Palatine to urge students to take a pledge never to text on their mobile phones while they drive.

She's also visited John A. Logan College in Carterville and Parkland College in Champaign with the same mission. It's part of AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign. AT&T — one of the nation's largest cellphone companies — hopes to save lives by fighting distracted driving.
