Roskam renamed Deputy Whip

Rep. Peter Roskam, R-III., will retain his spot as chief deputy whip of the U.S. House.

Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., on Thursday reappointed the congressman whose 6th Congressional District now includes Algonquin Township in McHenry County.

“In the coming weeks and months, Congress will be tasked with addressing critical issues, from averting the fiscal cliff to overhauling the tax code and putting our economy on a path of growth and job creation,” Roskam said in a statement thanking McCarthy.

“As Chief Deputy Whip, I am honored to serve alongside Kevin and our team as we build consensus and forward common sense solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems.”

Roskam also serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, which writes tax and revenue legislation.

He’ll be at the Peter G. Foundation discussing the fiscal cliff with Bloomberg television anchor Peter Cook at 8:15 a.m. today.
