Sex offender didn't report move to Wonder Lake, police say
WONDER LAKE – A 28-year-old sex offender was arrested Wednesday after he failed to notify police that he had moved near a children's day care facility, McHenry County Sheriff officials announced Friday.
Deon C. Palmer, of Wonder Lake, was charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony, and residing within 500 feet of a child day care, a Class 4 felony, according to a sheriff's news release.
Police charged Palmer after learning that he had moved to a Wonder Lake apartment at 7512 Hancock Drive without registering the address change. He previously was registered with the McCullom Lake Police Department, the release states.
