To the Editor:
On behalf of the McHenry County Chapter of ViêtNow, we express our appreciation for your continued support of our “Jim Tober” Christmas Basket Program.
During the past four years, we have asked you for your support to help the less-than-fortunate veterans throughout McHenry County. With the support you have shown us over the years, we have been able to provide food and Christmas presents to more than 200 McHenry County families. This year, we will be helping 65 McHenry County families.
On Saturday, Nov. 24, and Sunday. Nov. 25, we will be outside the Crystal Lake Walmart collecting donations to support our program. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. until about 4 p.m. both days. Your donations can be dropped off outside the exit doors. All donations will be used to help McHenry County residents.
Here is a list of suggested items that we can use: canned vegetables and fruit; canned meat; boxed meals such as macaroni and cheese, Hamburger Helper; spaghetti sauce and noodles; personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, mouthwash, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner; and any other nonperishable products. Cash donations also will be accepted to purchase needed food products or gifts for each person in the family.
All donations are tax deductible. If you cannot make it these days, your donation may be mailed to McHenry County Chapter of ViêtNow, PO Box 998, McHenry, IL 60051.
