Times have changed
To The Editor:
How times have changed. According to the May 11, 1996, edition of “The Economist,” Bill Clinton’s economy was in its sixth year of recovery. This claim by “The Economist,” not part of the right-wing conspiracy that Hillary Clinton used to talk about, corresponds to the actual turning point for the economy of March 1991.
In other words, the economy was on its way back long before Clinton arrived to impose his tax increases on gasoline (4.3 cents), all of the income tax brackets, and Social Security (85 percent). What’s noteworthy is that this magazine printed the truth about the trend and the timeline.
