David Vaught retiring
as director of DCEO

CHICAGO – The director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is retiring.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced 65-year-old David Vaught’s retirement Wednesday. In a statement, Quinn praised Vaught and thanked him for his state service.

The retirement came days after a report from the Illinois Inspector General’s Office found abuses of hiring laws and lax review of applicants’ qualifications at DCEO. They occurred before Vaught took over, and Quinn’s office said the report and the retirement are unrelated.
