Edgewood Drive reopened

ALGONQUIN – Edgewood Drive, between Hanson and Route 31, was scheduled to reopen Wednesday evening after a long closure for a road improvement project, the village said in a news release.

Drivers are advised that there will be intermittent lane closures as site restoration and other construction activities continue, the news release said. The project is expected to be completed by early next year.

Copenhaver Construction of Gilberts is performing the project for about $3 million. Federal funding helped pay for two-thirds of the project, the village said.

The project includes widening and reconstructing Edgewood Drive. Curb and gutter, storm sewer improvements, road grade adjustments, construction of a multi-use path, and replacement of a box culvert over the Ratt Creek Tributary were included in the project.
