Fox Lake will kick off holiday season with tree lighting, parade

FOX LAKE – The holiday season in Fox Lake will begin with the flick of a switch Friday evening.

The annual tree-lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Millennium Park with caroling led by the Stanton School and Grant Community High School choirs. Lights will go on at 7 p.m., with fireworks to follow.

A weekend of festivities will continue with the annual holiday parade, which will step off at 11 a.m. Saturday from Grant Community High School, 285 E. Grand Ave.

The route goes west on Grand Avenue, left onto Rollins Road to the Towne Centre Plaza.

This year’s theme is “A Cinema Christmas.”

A children’s party – featuring Santa, free stockings for children 10 years and under, raffles and hot dogs – will follow the parade at Lakefront Park, 71 Nippersink Blvd. It will run until 3 p.m.

For each nonperishable food item donated, attendees will receive one free raffle ticket.
