Holiday fundraiser
supports Marengo child

MARENGO – Residents have until Dec. 10 to partake in a holiday fundraiser designed to increase awareness about leukemia and support a Marengo family.

Friends of the Keller family, whose 4-year-old son has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, have been accepting orders for outdoor, decorative candy canes since Nov. 12.

The candy canes come with an orange ribbon meant to bring awareness about leukemia.

For $10, residents can own a 2-foot candy cane to be placed outside the home. Orders will be accepted until Dec. 10.

Sean Keller was diagnosed with leukemia at 3 1⁄2 years old. Doctors at the University of Chicago, where Keller receives regular treatment, are hopeful for a full recovery.
