Lake County to spend millions on courts, jail

WAUKEGAN – The Lake County Board has voted to spend more than $119 million on a five-year plan to increase and improve courtroom and jail space.

The News Sun reported that the project includes construction of a nine-story Criminal Courts Tower in downtown Waukegan at an estimated cost of $81.5 million.

Officials said the new building is needed because there’s a shortage of courtroom space.
