STYF: Bears can take frustrations out on Vikings

Now, the Bears need to forget and move on.

They had a lead in the NFC North, but it’s spent.

And the next four weeks will decide where they’ll end up in the division.

The Vikings weren’t supposed to be much of anything this year, but they’ve proven they are. They can run, and the past two weeks the Bears’ defense has struggled to stop that.

The Bears also have proven this season they can stop a one-dimensional team.

Sunday’s game is about halting all the bad things that have taken place over the past two weeks and starting fresh.

Heading into the season, the Bears probably would have been happy to know they were going to be tied for the division lead with the Packers. But the way it has occurred, right now it can only be frustrating.

And they’ll want to take that frustration out on the Vikings.

The question now that the division lead is gone is how good the Bears really are stacked up against the Packers and Vikings.

They have the best defense, for sure.

But their offense is probably the worst.

They can’t run like the Vikings or pass like the Packers, and they haven’t consistently done either this season. They don’t know what their strength is. So they don’t know how to attack.

They have one good receiver, one bad offensive line and an inconsistent running game.

Matt Forte is good, they just can’t figure out the right times to give him the ball.

But their defense is good enough, it hasn’t mattered. Now, it will.

They need to figure it out offensively or this season will continue to fall apart.

And, three weeks from now, you’ll be looking at a third-place Bears team.

Sunday is their first test. We’ll see which Bears team shows up.

The pick: With Jay Cutler’s status still uncertain, it’s hard to favor the Bears.

But I think they’ll be able to pull things together enough to escape with another win and remain at least in a tie for first in the division.

Bears 28, Vikings 24
