It is apparent that the holidays are upon us with all the TV ads and crowded malls. People frantically look for that special gift.

May I suggest something slightly different? Our family, adults only, does a grab bag to limit the amount of time spent and money wasted on gifts that will be quickly forgotten. When I am asked what I would like, I tell the parent that they must take my grandkids to a grocery store and let them select food for the cart. Payment is made by handing the cash, no credit cards, to the child, hopefully with some of their allowance included, who then hands it to the cashier.
