To the Editor:

I would like to echo “Be heard” from Jude Garner (It’s Your Write, Nov. 23). As a black American, I am extremely proud to be in this great nation. I am most proud of our men and women who have given their lives so I can vote, own property, and marry the women I love, regardless of race.

What I am not proud of as an American is that we have so many men and women who are homeless, hungry and alone. Yet, this country or state has done nothing to stop this dog chasing its own tail. Food thrown away at restaurants by the pounds and yet people are hungry?
