Irving Park fatality leads to Metra delays

Several Union Pacific Northwest line Metra trains were delayed Friday night after a train struck and killed a pedestrian near the Irving Park station.

Outbound Northwest line train 651 was due into Crystal Lake at 7:08 p.m. but struck a pedestrian at 6:17 p.m., according to Metra Spokesperson Michael Gillis.

The train left Ogilvie Transportation Center at 6:01 p.m. It was not scheduled to make a stop in Irving Park.
