Holiday programs a longtime tradition

CRYSTAL LAKE – Holiday experiences in December have been a long-standing tradition in the Crystal Lake Park District. Children and their families have a variety of holiday programs from which to choose.

• Letters to Santa: Send the park district a child’s letter by Dec. 14, plus a stamped, self-addressed envelope, and a reply will be sent a few days before Christmas. Send letters to: Santa, c/o Crystal Lake Park District, 1 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

• North Pole Calling: Santa or Mrs. Claus will call park district boys and girls between 5 and 6 p.m. Dec. 10. Register for this free program by filling out an information sheet. Download and print an information sheet at www.crystallakeparks.org/Programs/free-programs.htm#NorthPoleCalling. Or pick one up at the park district or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to North Pole Calling, Crystal Lake Park District, 1 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014, and a form will be mailed. The deadline is Dec. 3.

• Christmas Bedtime Stories: Children can wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animals for a night of Christmas songs and stories with Mrs. Claus. Juice, milk and cookies will be served. The event will run from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7, 11 and Dec. 14 at the Rotary Building, 431 N. Walkup Road, Crystal Lake. The cost is $13 for residents and $19 for nonresidents. To register, visit www.crystallakeparks.org or register in person at the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office.

• Breakfast with Santa: Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 10 a.m. Dec. 8 at Park Place, 406 W. Woodstock St, Crystal Lake. The cost is $12 a person; children under 1 may attend for free. The cost includes breakfast, goody bag, a visit from Santa and a raffle entry.  Register online at www.crystallakeparks.org, program code 1225-0.
