Is it possible?

To the Editor:

House Speaker Mike Madigan is going to use the results of a new poll to try to get legislators to move teacher pensions from a state responsibility to local school districts. The poll says that 60 percent of the people feel it should be up to local districts to pay downstate pensions.

Is it possible that 60 percent of voters don’t know that this money is going to have to come from local property taxes? Your property taxes would skyrocket if this is done. They are planning to do this soon in the veto session. Make sure you contact your state representative and let them know that your property taxes are high enough.
