Funeral set for trooper killed during traffic stop

HIGHLAND, Ill. (AP) — Services for an Illinois State Police trooper struck and killed by a tractor-trailer during a traffic stop will be at his alma mater high school.

State Police say 32-year-old motorcycle Trooper Kyle Deatherage died at the scene of the accident shortly after 9 a.m. Monday along Interstate 55 near Litchfield. That's about 55 miles northeast of St. Louis.

State Police Director Hiram Grau says Deatherage was a married father of two children and had been a trooper since May 2009.
