House in Huntley goes up in flames

HUNTLEY – No one was injured in a house fire reported Monday afternoon by a passerby, a Huntley fire official said.

The home at 13507 Harmony Road was in the process of being remodeled and was unoccupied, Lt. Steve Young said.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined but it does not appear to be suspicious, he said.

It was difficult to assess damage in the dark, Young said, although he estimated it at $50,000 or more.

Firefighters responded about 4:45 p.m. It took between an hour and an hour and a half to put out the fire, Young said.

Huntley Fire Protection District received help from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Woodstock Fire Rescue, Hampshire Fire Protection District, Marengo Fire Protection District, Rutland-Dundee Township Fire Protection District and Lakewood Police Department.
