The White Sox make changes to staff
The White Sox made changes to their coaching staff on Tuesday, hiring Daryl Boston as their first base coach and Bobby Thigpen as bullpen coach.
Harold Baines, formerly the Sox's first base coach, becomes the assistant hitting coach in a newly created position. Pitching coach Don Cooper, hitting coach Jeff Manto, third base coach Joe McEwing, bench coach Mark Parent and bullpen catcher Mark Salas are all returning for 2013, completing the coaching staff.
Boston joins the Sox after spending the previous 12 seasons as the organization's minor league outfield coordinator. Boston, who spent 11 years in the majors, was drafted by the Sox as the seventh overall pick in 1981.
