The Cary Park District has been named a distinguished accreditation agency by the Accreditation Review Board of Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.
The park district received the highest accreditation possible in the state.
The goal of the program is to improve the delivery of recreation services through a voluntary comprehensive evaluation process, according to a news release.
Cary is one of 64 park and recreation agencies in the state that have received the award. It was the first agency in McHenry County to receive the designation, and the only agency in the county to have been awarded the designation three times, according to the park district.
"This achievement is the result of a great deal of hard work by the Board of Commissioners and all the staff of the Cary Park District," said Cary Park District Executive Director Dan Jones in a news release. "To accomplish this takes an agency-wide commitment and we hope the outcome of these efforts is the highest quality recreational programs and park amenities for the residents we serve."
Agencies are reviewed in general management, finance and business, operations, facilities and parks, personnel, recreation services and legal.
