Article:	Sarley: Hunter shows lack of common sense Last week I wrote about the 72-year old archer from Des Plaines who harvested what he thought were a pair of elk, only to find out they were European red deer that had escaped from a farm. It didn’t matter which species they were, legally, because there are no proscribed seasons for either in Illinois because they do not reside here.
