Frankfort man falls into traffic, dies

MARKHAM, Ill. — Authorities say a 67-year-old man lost his balance while waiting for a tow truck on Interstate 57 and fell onto the highway where he was fatally struck by a car.

Illinois State Police officials say Oviel Garza's truck broke down Thursday evening near the south Chicago suburb of Markham. Officials say the Frankfort man was pronounced dead at the scene after falling into the car's path.

State police tell the Chicago Tribune that the car's driver called 911 and no citations have been issued.
