McHENRY – McHenry County College is partnering with the Independent Accountants Association of Illinois to offer a test preparation course for income tax preparers from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the McHenry County College Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry.
This class is intended as a refresher for experienced tax preparers and for individuals who have minimal experience with tax preparation. This seminar could also benefit those who are preparing for a career in tax and accounting fields or who are becoming tax preparers for the 2013 filing season. An individual needs only to pass the exam once in a lifetime as long as he or she meets the continuing education requirements each year.
This Registered Tax Return Preparer class is an eight-hour class with six hours of tax law and two hours of ethics included in the one-day session.
The eight hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit offered are allowed for part of the 15 hours of IRS-approved instruction required by the IRS for the 2012 year. Participants are provided with a blueprint for taking the test and successfully passing it. The course objective is that at the end of the day, attendees should be able to meet the minimum proficiency standards set by the IRS, and should be confident that they possess the necessary knowledge to pass the RTRP exam.
The Independent Accountant's Association of Illinois is a not for profit organization and is an approved IRS CPE provider. Classes offered by the IAAI offers are taught by instructors who are either CPA’s or Enrolled Agents who have their own tax and accounting practice and numerous years of experience in preparing tax returns for the general public and businesses.
Participants will be able to earn eight Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit hours. Cost is $99 for IAAI members and $139 for nonmembers.
