Bates: Nomination deadline for Frank E. Low Award

Last chance to submit nominations for the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce’s Frank E. Low Award. This is the chamber’s highest award given to an individual for distinguished community service.

Frank E. Low was involved with McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce through the ’60s and ’70s and the early days of Fiesta Days, making each better because of his enthusiastic touches.

Deadline for nominations is Wednesday. Nomination forms and criteria sheets are available at the chamber office, 1257 N. Green St., McHenry, or online at www.mchenrychamber.com.

The Frank E. Low Award will be presented at the chamber's annual “Derby Dance, Run for the Roses” on Jan. 26 at D’Andrea Banquets. Complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres begin at 6 p.m. with a filet mignon dinner at 7 p.m. Sweet table and complimentary beverages from 9 to 11 p.m. Back by popular demand is Lori Shane & the Mix.

In addition to the Frank E. Low Award, other awards to be presented are Board Member of the Year, Joe Thome Award and Ambassador of the Year.

Plan to attend the chamber’s Christmas Party today. Held at Chili’s in McHenry, this is always a hit with chamber members. Complimentary hor d’oeuvers, and soda and water will be served, with excellent networking opportunities. There will be funky door prizes, a chamber gift basket and a Chili’s gift card. We may even have a guest appearance by Santa. This event draws many from our business community so plan to be there between 5 and 7 p.m.

The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce's Life is a Journey Expo takes place Feb. 16 at McHenry High School West Campus. Sponsored by Centegra Health System and the Northwest Herald, Life is a Journey is an expo within an expo featuring color-coded rows highlighting Leisure Lane, Senior Street, Pet Parkway, Health & Fitness Fairway, Financial Frontage, Woman's Walkway, Children's Court, Home Highway and Automotive Avenue.

Expo will feature the Coupon Queen, exotic animal show, home improvement tips, senior humorist Susan Salach Cutler, McHenry Warriors obstacle course, and inflatables.
