Dixon comptroller's personal belongings at auction
DIXON – U.S. Marshals are again auctioning items belonging to former Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell, who admitted to stealing $53 million from the northern Illinois city.
Items from Crundwell's Florida vacation home went up for bidding Wednesday, and will be on sale through 5 p.m. Friday. More items from her home and ranch in Dixon will be auctioned from 4 p.m. today through 1 p.m. Saturday. The Telegraph in Dixon reported that the items include home furnishings, artwork, appliances and electronics.
Crundwell was charged with stealing the millions from Dixon over two decades and using the money to fund a lavish lifestyle and horse ranch. So far the government has raised about $7.4 million from the sale of Crundwell's horses, luxury motor home, vehicles and other equipment.
