To the Editor:
Often, there are people who have crossed our paths who have proved to be quite special. You always would hope that these people are thanked and appreciated for all they have done for others. All it takes is a quick “thank you” or a note of thanks, but in this case, I’d personally like to recognize one of our senior citizens for all the many kind and generous gestures he has made to and for many.
Although Wilbert Hecht no longer lives in Crystal Lake, he is not far from McHenry County, yet he still continues to contribute to many, many great organizations to help others.
By his many gifts to organizations such as Crystal Lake Community Choir, McHenry schools and Warriors Boosters Club, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Crystal Lake High School District 155, Centegra Health System, McHenry Rotary Club, American Legion, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and many more, he has helped people of all ages in some way.
Whether it was a monetary contribution, an American flag for a school gym, more than 30 gallons of blood donated for others, attendance at many school sporting events, donated real estate, scheduling bus trips for disabled children to be able to attend the Shriner’s circuses, making sure the Crystal Lake fireworks continued year after year, or one of many other generous and unselfish acts – he needs to be thanked.
Remember to always thank those who have gone out of their way to help others – before it is too late. Thanks, Wilbert Hecht!
