Power back at Harvard High School
HARVARD – Students were in the classroom as planned Thursday after power came back on early Thursday at Harvard High School.
A blown transformer had knocked out power at the school at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The outage also caused the districtwide phone and Internet system, which is run out of the high school, to go down.
ComEd restored power at 1:30 a.m.
“Everything’s working, and classes are in session,” District 50 spokesman Bill Clow said. “Everything’s back to normal.”
The district had made plans to use generators to light the high school if the issue wasn’t resolved in time for classes Thursday morning.
Students stayed in the classroom Wednesday after the outage and were released at 12:30 p.m., a previously planned early dismissal for a teacher institute day.
