Man held in theft, crash of pickup

WOODSTOCK – A Chicago man was arrested Sunday after he crashed a pickup truck reported stolen from Harvard.

Richard A. Enriquez, 32, is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence and driving while license revoked.

Deputies were called to the 2500 block of Route 20 in an unincorporated area near Marengo about 11 p.m. Sunday for an accident, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The driver lost control of the pickup truck and went off the road, according to the Marengo Fire Protection District.

Officers said the pickup resembled one reported stolen by Harvard police and later confirmed the truck was stolen.

Enriquez was taken to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock with neck and back injuries. He was released from the hospital Monday.

Enriquez remained at the McHenry County Jail on Monday awaiting a bond hearing.
