McHenry fire blamed on child, matches

McHENRY – A weekend fire that left a McHenry home uninhabitable was blamed on a child playing with matches, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District said in a news release.

Firefighters were called to the 3200 block of West Skyway Drive about 11 p.m. and found a one-story home engulfed in flames, according to a news release.

The occupants of the home were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
