Harvard man held in sex assault of boy

WOODSTOCK – A Harvard man facing charges of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old boy remains at the McHenry County Jail on $200,000 bond.

Joseph L. Coleman, 30, was arrested Friday and charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. A bond hearing is set for this morning. He must post $20,000 to be released.

The boy told a family member about the alleged abuse, according to a request for an order of protection. Coleman allegedly told the boy the sexual acts were “what boys and girls do” and that it was a secret he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone. When the boy was asked whether it happened just one time or often, he reportedly said, “a lot, like a hundred times.”
