Volo creates backup for special service area
VOLO – Most special service areas in Volo have backups and the Village Board added another one Tuesday evening.
The taxing area, known as an SSA, covers only the Thorton's at 205 S. Route 12 in Volo, and will kick in only if the owners don't maintain the property and the village needs to step in, village Assistant Administrator Eric Tison said.
With the SSA, the village will be able to recoup through property taxes any expenses related to stormwater management, open space and landscaping.
