Rung named as Shaw Media COO
John Rung, senior vice president of Shaw Media and publisher of the Northwest Herald, has been named Shaw's Chief Operating Officer. The move is effective Jan. 1.
In making the announcement, Tom Shaw, president and CEO of Shaw Media, said that Rung continues to distinguish himself as a capable leader of a growing and complex organization.
“Our solid performances in these difficult times, and the recent acquisition of the 22 Suburban Life Media publications, have been – in large measure – due to his involvement and guidance,” Shaw said.
Rung, 50, has been with the company 16 years and has shouldered various responsibilities during his tenure. As COO, Rung will be responsible for the company's operating activities, including revenue growth, strategic development and financial goal management.
”I am honored that Tom Shaw and our Board of Directors have entrusted me with this responsibility,” Rung said. “The success we have experienced is a direct reflection of the talented and engaged people on our team. I look forward to working with them to continue Shaw Media's outstanding legacy in the communities we serve.”
