Semi carrying French fries overturns in Marengo

MARENGO - Route 23 in Marengo has reopened after a semitrailer overturned, spilling packages of frozen French fries on the roadway, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Route 23 was closed between River and Kishwaukee Valley roads for more than 10 hours as crews worked to relocate the semi and clear the roadway, according to authorities.

The driver was traveling south on Route 23 at around 11 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled on its side in near a ditch, police said.
