The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce WINGs professional women’s group invites women to its High Tea luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry.
Participants will enjoy assorted teas, specialty sandwiches, scones, lemon curd, fruits and desserts.
Dramatic book reviewer Jenny Riddle will take attendees on the journeys of three interesting authors. Grant Achatz, who wrote "Life On the Line," is Chicago’s own renowned chef. That beautiful plate of food you’re served has a lot of heartache, joy, and sheer creativity behind it, especially in Achatz’s case because he had to overcome tongue cancer.
The next journey is with Jane Borden, whose book "I Totally Meant to Do That" explores her move from North Carolina. How does a southern debutante survive in New York City? Finally, Riddle shares Erma Bombeck’s approach to life from "Forever, Erma." It really is the journey, not the destination that is important.
The High Tea is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank and Heritage Woods of McHenry.
Networking is 11:30 a.m. and lunch and program is from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Cost is $28 for chamber members and $33 for nonchamber members.
