Police chief fired in Chicago suburb of Justice

JUSTICE – A suburban Chicago police chief has been fired over allegations he failed to properly discipline an officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a patrol car.

Robert Gedville's dismissal is also linked to a consulting arrangement he had with a red-light camera vendor.

Gedville was police chief in the southwest suburb of Justice for 20 years.

The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday (http://trib.in/Zszwsi ) he was fired in a unanimous vote of the village board after a three-month internal investigation. He could not be reached for comment.

A federal lawsuit filed in November alleges a Justice police officer ordered a woman into a patrol car, drove to a secluded location and forced her to perform oral sex.

The officer was suspected for 26 days, most of which overlapped with paid vacation.
